DLP: Engage the End-User
Data loss prevention strategies are shifting. Organizations are now turning to end-users to help protect critical data. Stephane Charbonneau of Titus discusses how to engage users to improve security.

Many organizations had resisted involving users in DLP. But Charbonneau says the new strategy is paying off in improved security.

"Because organizations are involving the end-user ... they feel empowered to be part of the process, and they start thinking about security," Charbonneau says. "Now they're thinking about security on a daily basis, and they're more sensitive of what they're working with - what information they have - and they're not going to share it as much."

In an interview with Information Security Media Group at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2013, Charbonneau discusses:

  • The newest DLP challenges;
  • Why end-users must be engaged in security solutions;
  • The new mobile paradigm.

Charbonneau is chief technology officer at Titus Inc. His background as an IT security architect helps bridge the gap between customer requirements and the product suites offered by the company. Charbonneau previously worked as senior architect at a major US financial institution and in several Canadian federal government departments.
