Network Security: Steps Indian Firms Must Take

Some Indian organizations are not aware that their networks are being used for mining bitcoins, says Rakesh Goyal, managing director at Sysman Computers, a CERT-In empaneled audit firm.

"This clearly shows that most firms in India aren't aware of malware sitting on their network. It doesn't matter to them [unless] their operations don't come to a standstill," Goyal says.

In this interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit in Mumbai, Goyal also discusses:

  • The security posture of Indian firms;
  • Specific steps companies need to take to improve their security;
  • Why regulations become important to drive security.

Goyal is managing director at Sysman Computers and also director general at the Center for Research and Prevention of Computer Crimes. He has been engaged in IS security and cyber forensics since 1991 and has authored six books on related subjects.
