With the pharma sector becoming the primary target for attackers, CISOs can harness technologies such as "zero trust" with "deny all" being the essence, least privilege access, and identity and access management to protect the three levels of manufacturing, research and IP, Sarkar says.

In an interview with Information Security Media Group interview, he offers insights on:

  • Specific challenges for pharma CISOs due to the pandemic;
  • Technologies that can be harnessed in tackling threats;
  • Using SASE in securing the remote workforce.

Sarkar is currently the group CISO for the Biocon Group. He spent three decades working for global companies including HP, HPE, DXC, HCL, Wipro and CMS IT services. He has been both an auditor and an auditee and a consultant, advising business leaders on cybersecurity, business continuity, privacy, risk optimization, standardization and resilience.
